I feel as bad as anyone else on here tonight over the way we lost tonight, but the real travesty is that we have no pull in the SEC offices and we are force fed what the Corporate office feeds us.
Whoever allowed us to be scheduled for eight weeks of football with weeks seven and eight against fresh teams coming off of bye weeks should be fired. I saw one fresh, very prepared Auburn team tonight, and one that looked slow, tired, and a step or two slow tonight. For us to beat teams with better overall talent, we have to be clicking on all cylinders. We just didn’t have the gas to go tonight.
I’m not making excuses, but as a lifelong Razorback fan, I am tired of having to take whatever the SEC office wants to give us. Kind of like taking our game against LSU, and giving it to aTm, who have been groomed from the day they said yes, to be a conference power. Frustrating!!
The issue of unfair scheduling, like the issue of a talent gap all take a back seat on a night like tonight where preparation by the coaching staff seems so inadequate.
We just allowed over 500 rushing yards, an SEC record. There are some heads in Fayetteville that need to roll before we turn our attention to unfair scheduling.
It is of course one of the worst defeats I can remember. I was there for the USC games, but this one just felt worse. Im not a Gus fan, but they let the foot off the gas when Pete Carroll wouldn’t. Score wish, it could have been the worst in history if Auburn has wanted.
Scratching my head looking for any possible answer.
Count me among those eager to place some blame on our schedule.
You make some very good points. We came in at a disadvantage. No excuses for our performance, but…
We play one of, if not the most, difficult conference schedules every year. Surely we shouldn’t have to meet two consecutive tough opponents at the end of a brutal eight week run. The fact that both of those top opponents get a bye week before meeting us seems especially harsh. Jeff Long needs to get the SEC to address this.
The schedule is as bad of an even-numbered year schedule as we could possibly get. I think I heard CBB say we are the only SEC team with 2 different 2 week SEC road trips.
Add in the gauntlet before the off week, and the fact that our last 2 opponents were off before us (and the one before that might as well have by it being Bama hosting UK) and we got absolutely no favors from the SEC.
But, that’s Hog life.
No one else has to play at Bama, at OM, at LSU and @TAMU (lite–Dallas) every other year, either.
Part of the problem is just that it’s the SECW. But, we don’t get any breaks and probably never will.
I’m not sure I would nominate Gus for sainthood due to his benevolence. He was running HUNH and reverses up 45 with 6-7 mins left.
I’m not complaining. We had no answers, and worse, seemed to just take it.
And, given Gus’ history here and with CBB I wouldn’t expect him to do anything other than what HC did. But, he didn’t really let off the gas. He drilled us and enjoyed every minute of it.
Well Arkansas now has an off date and gets Florida after they play an emotional game against a hated rival.
The LSU game moving was a great thing for the Hogs who have benefited the last two seasons by playing an emotionally and physically drained bunch of Tigers the week after they play Bama…same setup this year.
Yep. And I think it will this year. Beat Florida, Beat LSU … Hogs are ranked again. Win the last two and get a nice bowl, Very good year, would you agree?

I would agree…but don’t see them beating LSU this go around. Hope to win 2 of MSU, Mizzou, and Florida.

Hope for 7-5 but expect 6-6.

Do you expect us to lose at 2-5, 1-3 Miss St that lost at home to South Alabama, gave up 35 points at home to UMASS and just lost to UK and gave up 40 against their awful offense?
Or, do you expect us to lose at 2-5, 0-3 Mizzou that just lost 51-45 at home to Middle Tennessee St.?
I think MSU loss is more likely - Bullies have owned us of late and Nick Fitzgerald is playing better and better. Another run/pass guy who will have a Tim Tebow like day against the worst defense in the SEC.
