Reggie Perry didn't take long

Is Starkville that much closer

This will give conspiracy theorists a lot of material to build on. Mind boggling.

Actually, this isn’t that surprising. If his dad does have medical issues and that is the “real” reason for decommitting. Then this makes sense. Think about it, his father being sick and getting to see his son playing college in his old school isn’t that far fetched, and makes sense.

Now, what is interesting, the day he decommitted from us, the MSU fan base was sure he decommitted to become a bulldog. Was there a visit we didn’t know about?

Reckon he’s got a handshake deal with Adidas already? Will be interesting to watch

Saw someone else mention that.

  • It is still a pretty good haul at 386 miles, but it is much shorter than Fayetteville at 845 miles

  • Thought he wanted to take his time to build relationships

  • Thought Arkansas was his “Duke”

MSU is a model of underachievement

Whatever. None of this adds up in my eyes.

When you look closely at 3-4 angles then it’s not hard to figure out at all.

That was some “quick” recruiting there by Ben Howland, I guess he doesn’t do like CMA and not talk to the recruits when they are committed. Something defintely doesn’t smell right about this situation. Good Riddance IMO, too much drama.

SOFB

I guess we now know what his dad’s illness is…He was sick that his son was going to play for a conference opponent! I wish him the best but it seems like a fishy underachievement!

He visited Mississippi State the weekend he de-committed from Arkansas.

Questions for Dudley…

  1. Did Perry’s quick decision to go to MSU surprise you?
  2. Does his decision make you think that his public reason for his Arkansas decommit is consistent with his MSU commit?
  3. Is there any concern about some talk that Perry is trying to encourage T.J. Moss of Memphis to follow him to MSU?

It would be interesting to get your take now on this entire episode. We have gone from Reggie’s dream school, to now a decommit to a conference rival (understand about his dad playing there). Also, some stating friction between Reggie’s family and the Arkansas staff.

Bottom line. What happened here?

The reaction from Arkansas players on Twitter today has been pretty entertaining.

Daryl deleted his but this guy screenshotted it: https://twitter.com/prettyboi_inked/status/887024630883594240

It doesn’t take much to figure out what’s going on, especially when you consider the reports last week that MA and staff were moving on.

Meanwhile, you have Seth Greenburg jumping in and tweeting at Perry to do what’s best for him, etc.

I don’t remember anything like that from him when he was committed to the Hogs. It also seems like this whole thing turned when Perry went to play on that USA team coached by Greenburg. Probably coincidence.

It’s probably also a coincidence that he’s now quickly committed to a guy who is recruiting better than anyone ever has at MSU and who has been dogged by controversy.

It’s also probably coincidence that TJ liked a tweet about a bag being dropped.

Nothing to see here. All just sour grapes and we should happily buy that Perry suddenly was overtaken by love for his father’s alma mater, which barely received a mention until this week.

I couldn’t be a P5 coach. This stuff would drive me nuts.

Unless that is just his demeanor, I don’t know but he didn’t seem to be real excited in making his commitment announcement. Just an observation.

These guys got me confused, I really thought highly of the family when the mom and dad made their statement. Then came the decommittment and I thought oh well maybe he will go to a school close to home I totally understood . Now today he announces that he’s committing to Piss State well needless to say I lost all respect. It will come a time that the parents will have to let the young man know that his word is his bond. Just don’t say anything or do anything until you are 100% sure, at least Marcus and Malik got that one right.

Well said Notorious.

And the Seth Greenburg thing really irked me. It was totally unnecessary for him to publicly throw his 2 cents in. Had he decommitted from Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, etc. I guarantee you he would have kept his comments to himself. He’s turned into the ultimate fanboy of blue bloods and high ranked recruits, I guess he feels if he kisses their butt enough it may help get him another job. He knows that’s what it’s going to take to hire someone who has 22 years of head coaching experience with 3 NCAA tournament appearances.

After all of this I’m glad we moved on from Perry, looks like the classic case of kid starts of humble, he blows up, then people around him give him the big head and tries to take advantage of the situation. Also, I agree with you, something shady went on. I guess we finally got the answer to the argument we were having on why the staff moved on.

Yes. It seems very clear to me. I had little doubt before the TJ tweet like and that just clinched it for me.

I have stayed off the board, and just read the comments. But I do know some very important people in the know. And money bags are dropped and , I do know for a fact a previous recruit was offered a good salary to commit to a school. He didn’t go to that school so I can only imagine what, that school offered him. It’s not the coaches per say they turn their head but the boosters make it happen. It’s a business and for the top dogs it’s expected. Can’t say if my son was good enough to garner that attention, that it wouldn’t influence the decision. Loyalty is bought nowadays. It even happens in AAU , so it is what it is. I was disappointed that Reggie decommitted, but life goes on.

PiG, I’m gonna disagree with you on one thing. Miss St wasn’t just mentioned “within the last week” (as to when you posted this). The day McPherson dropped the “rumor” of Reggie decommitting both money changing hands and Miss St already having a secret commitment was being mentioned. I know people don’t like Hogville, but go read the Perry thinking about decommitting thread over there and you’ll see both mentioned. The day he decommitted from us, Miss St fans were celebrating him being their newest commit.
