Record start for Arkansas softball, Schroeder

The Razorbacks are off to their best start ever and Nicole Schroeder is a national player of the year candidate: … al-player/

Schroeder is tied for 12th in the nation with a .526 BA, leads the nation with 12 homers, leads the nation in RBIs with 40, and third in nation in slugging percentage to two girls who have only played two games. Yeah, she’s having a decent year.

They need to just win one game at Bama after going 1-23 the last two years (the 1 has been over South Carolina in each case).

Saturday’s game at Bama is on SECN at 5 p.m., by the way. That would be a good time for the Hogs to bash a few more homers (we lead the nation in team HRs with 1.65 per game).

The Schroeder family apparently is pretty big-time in softball circles. All three of Nicole’s older sisters played college softball - two at UCLA and one at Stanford. Two played in the Women’s College World Series and one is on the U.S. national team.
