World Championships concluded today in Doha, Qatar with another outstanding showing by USA with 14 gold, 11 silver and 4 bronze medals.
Here is how current and ex-Hogs did.
Women’s Pole Vault
Sandi Morris won silver clearing 4.90m ( 16 feet 0.75 inches)
Tina Sutej representing Slovenia finished 13th with 4.50
Event was won by Sidarova of Russia clearing 4.95.
Women’s 100M hurdles
Janeek Brown representing Jamaica finished 7th in 12.88. Event was won by USA’s Nia Ali in 12.34
Women’s 4x100M Relay
Kiara Parker anchored USA to a bronze medal in 42.10. Jamaica won in 41.44.
Women’s 1500M
Niki Hiltz finished 12th and last in final in 4:06:68. Event won by Netherlands’ Sifan Hassan in 3:54:22. Hassan also won 10000M, a double attempted by no other woman yet.
Women’s 5000M
Dominique Scott-Efrud representing South Africa finished 15th and last in the final in 15:24:47. Event was won in 14:26:22 by Kenya’s Helen Obiri.
Men’s 3000M Steeplechase
Stanley Kebenei finished 10th in final in 8:11:45. Event won in 8:01:75 by Kenya’s Kipiroto.
Men’s 110M Hurdles
Omar McLeod representing Jamaica hit a hurdle in the lane next to him and was disqualified in the final. However, he was well behind USA’s Grant Holloway, who won the event. Holloway won the NCAAs in June for Florida.
Men’s 400M Hurdles
Kemar Owatt, representing Jamaica, finished 7th in semi final heat in 49.32.
