Dominic Taccolini threw 10 strikeouts and Arkansas got home runs from Grant Koch and Carson Shaddy, as well as good offensive performances from Chad Spanberger, Alex Gosser, Jax Biggers and Luke Bonfield.
Tacco looked good, but it was not a surprise. He has pitched well in the past.
Heiss was the surprise. He gave up a home run at the beginning of his second inning. But instead of getting flustered and trying to pitch around the next batter, he really bore down: getting a strike out, a ground ball, and a popup.
Heiss’ next pitch after the home run was a strike and I think he ended up striking out that batter. That showed something about his makeup. I think he’ll get some more time with the injury to Scroggins.
