From the weather map, in motion, it appears that some bad weather is about to come in from the southwest. That cell should clear and the threat of lightning should be gone in about another hour to 90 minutes.
The big question is whether the much larger cell, now over central Nebraska, will slide into the Omaha area, or stay north of it.
A 1:00 or even 2:00 start isn’t too big a deal if the players can relax enough to deal with it without getting so relaxed they can’t refocus. I sure hate this, though.
I just hope they can squeeze a whole game in between the showers. It just throws away pitching depth to go a few innings and have staying warm for a long layoff use up your arms. Meanwhile, teams on the other side of the bracket like MissState whose depth is more used get more days to rest up and they gain from the rain delay compared to us with a deeper and less used staff.
I agree. As much as I want to play today, there’s nothing more frustrating than busting up good pitching with bad weather. Of course, I think if there’s two bad pitchers out there, that probably bodes well for our bats, but would rather not go that route.
Murphy needs to be able to get 5 innings before a delay. The bullpen could end up short for Campbell’s start and that what really worries me. We need to win today.
Someone start singing “rain rain go away”.
