Question about PK 80

I see in ESPN today that Duke’s game last night was listed as “PK80 Campus game”.

I know we have had these tournaments before where games at home were part of the “tournament”

Was the Fresno St game a “PK80 Campus Game”?

Never mind…

I now see that our game against Bucknell was a “non-bracketed” game in the PK80, according to the PK80 website.

I wrote that in the preview for the Bucknell game. There were several smaller schools that participated in the invitational who won’t be going to Portland. Among them: Bucknell, Northeastern, Stony Brook, New Hampshire and Ball State.

[/quote]So - what’s the point? I don’t get it.

I also noticed this while watching the N. Carolina game at Stanford last night. Apparently, that was part of PK80 as well. I’m confused about what it means to the teams NOT playing in Oregon on Thursday - Sunday. Really, those games are just typical road games - N. Carolina at Stanford; Bucknell at Arkansas. Not really part of any “tournament”.

I guess the “benefit” is that those games are shown on the ESPN family of networks?

Just kind of odd and unstable, to me.

I imagine it helps those small schools in a number of ways, including good paychecks, opponents and exposure. Putting together a basketball schedule isn’t easy, so I imagine having a cluster of games guaranteed is a relief.

Any idea on the win/lose PK80 game times for Hogs on Friday?
