Arkansas has not been in any of the top 25 polls that have been released this preseason. That is not surprising given how last season went and especially how it ended.
What has been a little surprising is the lack of SEC teams in the top 25 this year. For instance, D1 Baseball released its top 25 today and the only SEC teams were No. 2 Florida, No. 4 South Carolina, No. 5 LSU, No. 7 Vanderbilt and No. 20 Texas A&M. Typically there are about eight SEC teams in the preseason top 25.
Arkansas caught a scheduling break this year by not playing Florida or South Carolina, and playing Vanderbilt and LSU at home.
The only other ranked team (per D1 Baseball) on Arkansas’ schedule is Arizona, which is No. 19 after finishing national runner-up last season. The Razorbacks play the Wildcats in Frisco, Texas, in March. Oklahoma State, which Arkansas will also play in Frisco, is unranked after making the College World Series last year. The Cowboys lost a lot of players from that team.
In all, Arkansas has 10 games against ranked teams in the D1 Baseball poll. Usually there are about 19 to 24, which again can be explained by fewer SEC teams that are ranked.
