Possible Grad Transfer TB visiting...

trio of sources - including my own eyes - have confirmed that former South Carolina running back David Williams (6-1, 220) is here on the Arkansas campus and visiting.

He would have one year of eligibility left.

Williams had committed to UConn, but Arkansas is now in the picture and it looks like a fit.

Here’s a story on his transfer from South Carolina.

http://www.thestate.com/sports/college/ … 55509.html

For his career, Williams had 188 carries for 794 yards and five touchdowns.

He finished the 2016 South Carolina season third on the team in rushing with 56 carries for 239 yards and three touchdowns.

Williams caught 27 passes for 264 yards in three years.

His career-high in rushing came in his freshman season against Furman when he had 110 yards.

If he’s available to play right away it might work out well for him and the Hogs also might make it easier to redshirt C.Hayden to give him a year to mature. Looks like a win win possibly. WPS

And/or Maleek Williams, depending where each RB is at the end of fall practice.

He might help if we can’t get another year of eligibility for Kody Walker.

That’s funny right there.

Sounds like he coaches are expecting Maleek to contribute in a big way this yr

David Williams was pretty highly rated out of high school. I think Phil Steele, who uses some kind of aggregate rating, had him as like the #18 RB.

South Carolina’s OL play has been poor the last few years, and Muschamp, has not been much on developing RBs, so I think there is some reason to suspect that D. Williams might be a bit better than what we could have hoped for as a grad transfer. Certainly with his size it would give us a third guy who could handle some of the pounding, and let Hammond and the other freshman fill the change of pace roles.

Dudley/Richard,

Sooooo is this happening? Seems to be a natural fit for a position of need.

Still waiting to hear

I won’t be shocked if we are talking about a Grad Transfer QB this time next year.
