I visited with Arkansas’ coaches this week. Here is how things stand as the Razorbacks gear up for preseason work.
Aloha Matt,
Thanks for the update. By the way, what qualifies for a ring in today’s baseball?
I always thought you had to win a title (conference or national) to receive ring.
UA…Campus of Cham
It’s a nice ring, but nothing over the top; kind of like a very nice class ring. It is silver and has some crushed jewels around a red Razorback. The sides have the player’s name and on top is a reference to playing in the CWS.
Arkansas’ players have gotten CWS rings for years, just like past Arkansas basketball players have gotten Final Four rings without winning a title. It’s a big accomplishment to get there.
Going to be a very interesting year to say the least so much uncertainty but I’m looking forward to seeing how we do in Arlington.
Can’t wait for the games in Arlington to start. Pitching and defense looks strong.
Pitching definitely looks strong. I think it is too soon to tell about defense since the left side of the infield will be new. I have faith, but they need to prove themselves.
They won titles, Guy. Stillwater Regional champion and Chapel Hill Super Regional champion.
That Stillwater regional was one of the greatest regionals I’ve ever seen! We were on the edge of our seats pretty much every game thread…
Agreed. But Chapel Hill wasn’t bad either, with the walkoff at the Bosh. And the weirdest weather delays ever. Never rained a drop but they couldn’t play for like 3 hours. @ncschwartz3650 and I went to get some food in downtown Chapel Hill with the sun blazing down during the delay.
In other brackets, I thought Arkansas, Oklahoma State and North Carolina could have all been CWS teams. I’m not sure there has been another postseason when the Razorbacks beat the quality of teams before Omaha that they did last year.
Yeah I remember you were at the chapel Hill when that was awesome to walk it off like that was unbelievable
Yeah and last year’s postseason was so awesome because we were horrific late in the year and it was very unexpected that we would do what we did it was just unbelievable and then to smash Stanford the way we did after they beat us and made us look bad in that 35° weather
I was very surprised Stanford didn’t throw the guy that shut us down in February. His role had changed since then, but when you have a guy that the other team couldn’t touch, why not put him back on the bump?
Yeah that was a huge mistake by their coach by trying to transform him into a reliver, that dude was flat out a stud as a starter.
It may not have mattered because by that time of the year we had already seen several stud left-handers including that one from North Carolina
The early games will Give DVH a snap shot of what to expect. There are a lot of positions up for grabs. The Catcher from OKC has an edge to start I think. The stating rotation will be a battle on the mound.
There are so many question marks on this team it makes it exciting, kind of like Christmas morning when you open your presents to see what you got.
