Sam Pittman received two points on the AP ballot for national coach of the year. Voters were asked to choose their top three coaches in order. Jim Harbaugh of Michigan won the award.
Pittman was one of 15 coaches who received a vote. Three coaches received one point apiece, so Pittman finished 12th in the voting.
I’m not a JH hater but he finally pulls it out if his @ss in year 7 but we got the guy that pulled Arkansas from the absolute power 5 dumpster fire of the century in 1-2 seasons??? I didn’t figure SP would win but in my hog-colored-dumpster-fire-scarred glasses he should.
I agree. Harbaugh finally gets a storied UM a Big10 title & a playoff berth & suddenly he’s COY. Sam’s accomplishments over the past two years are much more impressive. But like you, I knew he wouldn’t win.
amazing that the coaches who have the jimmies and joes are automatically rewarded for having them but someone who does more with less is deemed not coach of the year material…proves its like homecoming queen…popularity not effort or looks
IMO you’re not gonna get it for going 8-4 no matter how bad we were two years ago. Harbaugh went from 2-4 last year to 12-1 and the playoffs this year. And arguably their best offensive threat, Ronnie Bell, tore up his knee in September.
Lots of worthy candidates. Most won their league. That’s how you win coach of the year. Last to third in your division is impressive. First is what really turns heads. I know what Sam did.
Yeah, but hardest schedule in the nation, playing in the toughest conference should vouch for something. Hardest schedule at least the last 2 yrs to I believe. Owned Texas this yr and won all the trophies. I do see ur point on winning conference,
Sam Pittman is my coach of the year and I can’t convey my thoughts into words of how proud I am of him. He has changed the way AD’s will search for their next head coach after the job CSP has done. WPS
