Patrick Beverley - Hall of Fame pest

After last night’s performance, Stephen A Smith called Beverley a HOF pest.

It was a colossal wheels come off loss for Warriors from up 31. But this post is about Beverley. In this series he has guarded Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Kevin Durant and frustrated all of them. He literally took Kevin Durant out of the game. Forcing two offensive fouls on KD within seconds was a master class in defending. Durant is totally frustrated. To his credit, he has sang praises of Beverley.

Beverley guarding Durant reminded me of Sidney Moncrief guarding Larry Bird. Something about the Arkansas guards. Moncrief, Robertson, Walker, Beck, McDaniel, Beverley. Ronnie Brewer, Haydar, Gulley and Macon had some of that dog in them. I think Sills is next in line, given time.

He literally crouches to the short level on the Golden State players and slides up and down on their jerseys… I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more annoying tactic in the NBA and man it does work in this typically no defense league. Good on Patrick.

Beverly was always a tough player who came out of Chicago as the leading scorer in Chicago his senior year. He was undersized, therefore he attracted little D-1 recruiting . While he was a Razorback, he carried the Hogs to what little success they had.

This proves that you don’t have to be a 5 star recruit to excel at a high D-1 school or even the NBA. Hard work and toughness = winning. We need a lot of players with those attributes.
