OT - Veteran broadcaster Dick Enberg passes

Always a familiar and professional voice during my many years of being a sports fan and watching major events on TV. In particular, I enjoyed his pairing with Merlin Olson on football games - NFL and College Bowls.

RIP.

Oh My

RIP

Oh my! indeed.
Bob Costas used to do interviews with MLB HOF inductees. I happened to save the one that he did with Dick Enberg. I watched it this morning. Enberg was a class act.

I believe Dick and Al McGuire called the Balentine’s Day game in Pine Bluff with UNC.

Great, great broadcaster. Probably my favorite all time after Jack Buck.

He was on the Padres TV broadcasts here the last several years and I loved listening to him. As good as he ever was during his heyday on National broadcasts. Great stories, great play by play man and a terrific guy. I was sad when he retired at the end of the 2016 season. Really sad today.

He was the best play by play announcer Tennis has ever had. When NBC launched live broadcast of Wimbledon finals and named it “Breakfast at Wimbledon”, it was Dick Emberg and Bud Colin’s who carried the show. Their coverage of Borg-McEnroe finals is legendary. Sadly both have now left us.
