OT- shoulder surgery tomorrow

I will be having RC surgery in the morning. No big deal, I guess. But still, any time you go under GA, well, it is something my wife worries about.
Just turned 70 today!
Prayers appreciated! And thanks to all in advance!!

Depends on how serious the injury is. You’re gonna hurt for a while. Keep up with the PT! Good luck.

Happy Birthday!!
Praying for you Bore…had RC surgery 2 1/2 yrs ago…it will be a slow recovery so just be patient and do your home exercises and Therapy and in about 6-8 months you will be back to normal.

It is a full tear of the RC Tendon. I bought a power recliner so I can sleep in it for awhile. I hope!

Thanks, youdaman. As long as I can drag a deer out of the woods by November, I’ll be good!!

I don’t know if you will be able to do that LOL! it takes a while to get full strength back, range of motion will come back before strength but like I said just be patient bc you will get frustrated by how slow things occur, was 8 weeks before I could lift arm to shoulder height but you will recover to full strength just don’t try to rush it and hurt it again.

Thanks for the info. I have a few friends that have been thru it and they have given the same advice.

My wife had RC 15 months ago. She was very focused on doing her PT exactly as her therapist asked. Her recovery went good but it took months.

Thanks, LD!
I should have had surgery on my right shoulder, back in my 40’s. I was working then, wasn’t playing much ball anymore, so I elected not too. Doesn’t bother me too much, but I just couldn’t ignore the pain in my left shoulder. It was just getting worse.

That recliner was a good investment! You’ll be glad you have it. Hard to get comfortable in a bed.

I’m a side sleeper and I knew I wouldn’t be able to do that.

Right.

Louis Campbell just finished the 4 months rehab from RC surgery. He and I will fish this week. We are both excited. I was with him when he fell in December. We both knew exactly what he did.

All I can say is don’t under do or over do the physical therapy. Do exactly what they say. You can’t rush it. It’s methodical. It’s no fun but you will make it back to fun stuff.

Well, I’m one that usually follows Dr’s orders. I don’t think it will be any different with this. As a hunter and a fisherman, I have learned that patience is indeed a virtue and usually leads to success. As I pray in this situation.
