OT: I went to a TBT game ...

Saturday in Wichita. It was a regional semifinal between a WSU alumni team (The Aftershocks) and a team called Sideline Cancer (small college stars). Attendance was 6,000. According to the PA announcer it was the second highest attendance ever for a TBT game. The record happened Thursday in Wichita when there were 7,500 for two games. One was with the Aftershocks and the other was with the Kansas alumni team (called Self Made). The atmosphere was like a home WSU game (there was even an alumni band and Wu Shock mascot). Lots of fun. It was a wide open game with lots of scoring. Sideline Cancer won 87-79 but it was close throughout. They will play a Marquette alumni team today for a berth in the 8-team TBT final in Chicago. Oh yeah, regional winners also split the gate of their Regional site. For For Wichita it will be @$94,000 for the winning team to share. Read last night that the Salt Lake City Regional winners will split $1,700. It was the second year in a row the Wichita site far outdistanced the rest of the TBT regional sites in attendance. Part of it is the rabid WSU fan base and part is that they also get alumni teams for KU and KSU too. Lots of local sponsorship support as well. BTW the winner in Chicago splits $2 million.
