(OT) I knocked down 50 3 pointers last night

In 40 minutes. Now I realize this does not qualify me for a Shootah nickname, but I’m pretty happy about it. There just aren’t as many pickup games being played in my community center since the school year ended. I’ve gone from playing twice a week, to playing maybe once every two weeks. I’ve used the downtime to work on my game. Keep in mind, I don’t have a rack of balls to work off of, or someone rebounding and feeding me the ball. I have to track down every shot and get back behind the arc. I’m also working on my handle and have gotten pretty smooth dribbling behind my back and between my legs. I know men my age are supposed to be spending their rec time on putting greens and driving ranges. I just can’t help myself though. I guess I’m just a baller for life!

All of this is only because I wasn’t playing.

Actually Gas, it’s because NO ONE was playing! However, there was a time when I might have made only 15-20 while being guarded by air! The kids must now respect my 3 ball. Which will create more opportunities for me to drive.

I retired from competitive basketball in my early 30’s. It was church league in Pine Bluff. Not to brag but Central Baptist was the city champions several times. We had 7 on our team. My role was the 7th man/cheerleader. My uniform still fits perfectly.

The only garments from my 30’s that still fit me, are my socks. I miss church league ball. Played a little bit of it in the Atlanta area several years ago. At the age of 49, I went off for 18 one night. Dude guarding me was like 28.

I think that could be dangerous. Just think about all the moving screens you’d have put on you. I have seen wheelchair basketball. Some of those dudes can ball!
