Old school NBA fight...Moncrief vs. Ainge

…and can you believe no one got thrown out? Different League today.

I liked old school NBA. It was war. Nice body slam by Sid.

Nobody ever had a more punchable face than Ainge.
Good for Sid.

To get an idea of how respected Sidney was, Boston coach KC Jones and pg Dennis Johnson are helping him back up and making sure Sidney is ok.

Fun video. Wish the NBA would go back to being more physical. I might watch it again.

Maybe this has been mentioned before but Sid got a mention in the movie Air as they were discussing great players in the league. Good movie if you haven’t seen it - especially if you were around in the 80s - 90s.

Agree. I love the 70’s/80’s tough, ballsy, politically incorrect America.

It was the absolute best time to be alive, and the music was killer!

I’m a ‘76 baby and I might argue without any direct knowledge that the 50’s/60’s were a better time to be alive than the 70’s/80’s but I love the latter’s grit.

I can’t argue any of those points.
I was born in 72, but I eat up pop culture from the 50’s thru the 90’s.

9/11 is the line of demarcation for me. Nothing has been the same since.

9/11 was mine too. It’s about the Clinton/Bush #2 years that the political division began. Everybody started getting their feelings hurt about everything around then too.

Both sides’ fault. Not getting political.

One player got thrown out… of the gym.

Rarely did Moncrief lose his composure. He picked the perfect person in Ainge.

For a nice guy, Sid could be a very bad man when he needed to be. Who could forget the night in Barnhill when he opened up an epic can of whupazz on some poor, deserving Aggie?

While you guys are holding up yesterday’s NBA players and Sid as tough and loving the fights, some call today’s NBA players thugs for doing the same.

People are people. Players are players. Regardless of era. There are great, tough players in NBA now just like yesterday. Only thing that has changed is rules.

Personally I’ve only called two people thugs in my life. Both held guns to my head in a Supermarket robbery. One shot my dear friend 4 times and pistol whipped a 19 year old mom. They were cowardly thugs….

I’ve not watched the NBA since the 80’s. My grandsons love it which is 100% okay with me. It just don’t interest me. Nor does NFL or MLB.

That is a perfect definition of a thug.

The good news if my buddy survived 4 shots to the chest. And the 19 year old mom did okay too. The thugs were never arrested in either robbery. The better news is that these robberies started me looking for a safer career and 34 years with the Little Debbie people.

Good point. Here’s to more fights.
