This is of Hog-fan interest because one of the backs jostling for playing time in New Orleans while Ingram is out is our own Jonathan Williams. JWill spent most of the 2017 season on the Denver practice squad but was signed by the Saints in November.
Probably helps JWill stick with the Saints as he would be more of a power back like Ingram, and they don’t want to overuse Kamara in the first quarter of the season.
Mark Ingram is holding out for a new contract after getting suspended for 4 games for PED use. He obviously doesn’t understand the concept of leverage in negotiations. JWill might get a shot…hope he does.
Maybe a few too many helmet collisions.
Ingram’s agents say the drug in question wasn’t a PED, but a medication that can be permitted under the NFL’s proper use exemption (for example, albuterol is generally banned in the Olympics but can be used as an inhaler prescribed by a physician to treat asthma).
Boston Scott is probable first in line to cut Kamara carries, JWill has passed Lasco in pecking order and does have RB coach on his side from Razorback days. JWill has not been power back in classic sense, has great make you miss in the hole skill that has been duly noted in practice. Blocking and catching will have a lot to do with which back gets the limited roster spot
