The world of unsanctioned, outlaw, 8 man football in Arkansas. Congratulations to the Yellowjackets. Tonight, the official 11 man playoffs begin. Who Ya rootin for? Though I have no real connection to them, I’d love to see the Cinderella season of the Fightin 4 Boys of Carholic High continue.

As many on here know, I call Fayetteville High School’s games. They are off tonight and will play the winner of Conway vs. Har-Ber next week at Harmon Field.

Fayetteville is a really talented team. Drake Lindsey, the grandson of Jim Lindsey, is a junior QB and is having an outstanding season with 3,620 passing yards, 37 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He had his sixth 4-touchdown game last week against Har-Ber. Fayetteville also has the state’s leading receiver, Kaylon Morris, who has 1,593 yards and 15 touchdowns. Morris has five 200-yard receiving games and is close to breaking Isaiah Sategna’s record from last season when Sategna led the nation in receiving yards. Brooks Yurachek, Hunter’s son who has an Arkansas PWO offer, is also having a great year at middle linebacker. He led the 7A in sacks before he suffered an injury that caused him to miss one game and much of another.

Fayetteville’s three losses this year are by five points. Cabot scored a game-winning touchdown with eight seconds left to win 31-28; Rogers kicked a field goal with four seconds left to win 29-28; and Bentonville scored a two-point conversion on the final play of overtime to win 31-30. Fayetteville has a capable team, but has to finish off these good teams at the end. Maybe those tough losses can benefit the team in the playoffs.

I expect Conway to win tonight and be tough next week. Fayetteville kicked a 40-yard field goal with four seconds left to win its state semifinal game over Conway last year, and I’m sure Conway’s players would love a chance at revenge.
