More on the rainout

Here are some thoughts from Dave Van Horn after tonight’s delay: http://www.wholehogsports.com/news/2018 … son-delay/

Forecast for today in Omaha is 50% chance of thunderstorms. Looks like a long shot to get our game in today.

It’s about 8:30 now. Do officials think we’ll play?

If you can believe the radar projections, this front may roll through about 10:15 and go past for a while. Looks like they may have the start delayed but have a chance of getting it in.

There are only two games set for today, so it’s not that big a deal if the game doesn’t start until 1:00 or so. I know the players hate it, but I assume it will be just as annoying to TT as to us. I’m sure DVH and by now the whole team has been through this sort of thing before & they can handle it well. As for me on the other hand… :frowning:

If we are one of only two games for today, why the 11:00 AM start? Did they think that might work around the weather better at the time than later?

Beats the hell out of me. I wondered the same thing.

My guess is that the early start gave them more time to work in the first game before the elimination game to follow. It could also have been influenced by ESPN, but the weather is not cooperating with the ESPN schedulers anyway. They’re giving us Stephen A now instead of Heston K.
