The pre-season has had more live contact (but not more scrimmages) than the last two years, according to someone who has watched intently over the last three years. I trust his eyes. One thing noticed was that game week has much more contact. There was one heavy day under Morris and basically two days (Monday and Thursday) with nothing. Sam Pittman hits with full pads on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday is in shells but with thudding (pretty good contact day). Bascially, there are no easy days Monday through Wednesday with Pittman. I think that bodes well for developing a physical team at some point. How soon I’m not sure. But it’s clear that practices are tougher. Too bad they didn’t have a spring with this kind of physical hitting. It would show this fall more quickly.
