Got off to a quick +4 and at one point they were next to last, but they’ve stabilized and still at +4 while others making bogeys. Currently tied for 7th with Duke. Top 5 after Wednesday advance to nationals; they’re two shots back of that at the moment, early on the back nine.
We’re paired with Okie Lite and Georgia Tech today. Round was delayed an hour by overnight rain, making a 7400-yard course even longer, Okie Lite leads at -1; GT is a shot behind us in 9th.
Luke Long and Julian Perico are both even par, other counting scores are +1 and +3.
Late in the round. Hogs’ Julian Perico is already off the course and tied for the lead with a 3-under 68; he was -4 on the back nine.
Unfortunately, the best score for any of his teammates is +3, and the Hogs are tied for 8th at +8 with one player still on the course. However, that’s only two shots out of fifth with other teams having more holes to play (Hogs, GT and Okie Lite teed off first).
Okie Lite, the #2 team in the country and top seed in Columbus, leads by 4 shots at -5.
And for you Suckeye haters, the host team is tied with us at +8.
Round’s over. Hogs are solo 8th at +8, two shots out of a fifth-place tie.
The Scarlet Course at Ohio State is a fantastic track. I’ve walked it in NCAA tournament. It will gobble you up if you are not solid in all areas. You can make up lots of strokes with a good round.
Designed by Alister McKenzie (who also did the course at Michigan that the women played last week), renovated by Jack Nicklaus.
