Hi everyone. First, thank you to Jeff (SwineFusion) for communicating my family’s situation. Second, thank you for all of the sweet, kindhearted messages. Many of you remember my wife’s name is Mary Taylor. Violinist. Fiddler. Teacher. Greatest wife and mother ever is your ask me. I think I once posted her playing her fiddle on here if I recall. Pretty sure I did.
Here is what we know. A CT scan at Mary’s 6-month check found a 7mm tumor embedded in scar tissue. Y’all may recall Mary had a very large GYN surgery in 2020 at the Mayo Clinic in MN. Last summer, a very small tumor was found in her lung. 6mm. Indolent. They took it out. Huge margins. All looked great. The following PET scan was clear. And so we’re scans through November.
Last week, though, this new tumor was found at the incision site of that 2022 surgery. This can happen. But only 1-2% of the time. The good news is it’s NOT a metastasis. Also good news, it’s easily treatable. Mary has an amazing team of MD Anderson and Mayo Clinic docs. They have told us to look at this as another bump in the road.
They are changing Mary’s immuno med to something different. To try to prevent any more recurrences.
Thanks again everyone for your support and prayers. This board is like a family. We fight sometimes. But many of us have communicated on this board or other boards for what….30 years?
One request. Please don’t post or PM me any stats. Or predicted outcomes. Or medical comments about the nuances. We are all about being POSITIVE. Besides, Mary’s cancer is so rare, stats don’t apply to her anyway. As far as we are concerned, Mary is gonna BEAT THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL. If positive thoughts have an impact, we are maximizing that.
Treatment starts on May 30. Radiation for 15 sessions. We are staying in Houston through the treatment.
Love to all.
Rob
