I don’t know about a weaker SECW. Didn’t Bama and LSU play for a NC during CBP’s tenure? Like I said in another thread, I like CBB a lot, and hope he is wildly successful here. I would also point out that we need to win at a high level again. Is a person “unforgivable?” Can someone who made a “huuuuuge mistake” ever recover? Some of us might revise our opinions slightly if it was our own character issues under the microscope.

I have no problem with the way UA handled this situation. They will always be able to claim the “high road,” and rightfully so. However, how long will it be before the “natives become restless” if we continue to be mediocre? Especially in the face of the NCAA doing nothing about flagrant rules violators that we have to compete against. We need to finish the regular season at least 7-5, and hopefully 8-4 for CBB to show progress y-o-y. If 6-6 becomes our ceiling, it won’t matter how much any of us despise CBP or love CBB, that seat is going to get “HOT.”

Yea Bama and LSU were about it during those years, but Petrino’s AR teams didn’t have to face an SECW schedule where every opponent was ranked in top 25 and 3 of those in the top 10 and 2 of those in the top 5.
Lately CBB’s teams have beaten ranked highly ranked LSU and gave Bama’s NC teams all they could handle. Something CBP teams couldn’t do, even when we had the better team against Bama at home.
CBP is a great offensive coach, maybe one of the best, but he’s not much of a players coach, he was basically unapproachable to players other than in games or on the practice field and usually after a stern cussin only then.
Not sure how CBP’s teams would fare here now, competing against other ranked teams with hurry up, high scoring offenses. We can only wonder I suppose.

P train will perform just like he did in the SEC. He will beat who he’s supposed to beat and he will get beat by Clemson or FSU…He never beat Saban because P train is easy to plan for when you have good recruits, coaches and a brain.

Dumbest post I’ve ever read. There were no law suits. If any had come about the University would have squashed them like a bug !! But go with that federal thing bc it fits your agenda. Which is to support a dumb AD at any cost. Nobody denies that Bobby was fired with cause. What I and many like me say is that it was stupid to fire a coach who just went 21-5 in the freaking SEC !!! As I recall we barely beat Skip Holtz’s team in the Liberty Bowl with one of BP’s better AR teams. La Tech is a much better team than that East Carolina team was.
Oh and the Aggie and Miss St teams we play today are ranked teams instead instead of bottom feeders BP faced. Last years Miss St QB will start as a rookie in the NFL tomorrow if that tells you anything.

When they fired Petrino and re-opened applications for the state job. That negated the grounds for any Federal lawsuit. Long stated that on TV when he announced Petrino’s firing.
