Loeske is nasty! 3rd starter type stuff

i know our Bullpen is shaky already but his swing and miss stuff would be perfect to follow soft throwing Murphy IMO

Kid was on fire tonight. His best game as a hog. We could sure use that down the stretch.

he had another game like this earlier when he started in a midweek game K’d 8 in 3 innings

IIRC, that was the game we played in Charlotte and lost after Loeske came out of the game.

Yup.
He had trouble locating pitches early in the season, but since that game he’s been solid, with a few exceptional outings mixed in. I believe he relieved Knight in game 1 of the Auburn series and pitched very well. He was special tonight. I think he broke in to CCM’s red bull stash.

It’s seemed to be hot and cold with him. At times has been amazing.

I am not sure but I think he gave up a homer to SC after Blaine left the game? I know Knight had the lead when he came out and someone gave up a homer I think…

IMO he just needs to get in the routine of being a starter. He and Reindl both have swing and miss stuff better than anybody on the team other than Cronin and we need that.

Loseke has a lot of ability, but he has not shown that he can have that type of performance on a consistent basis. He was really good against Charlotte and Memphis last month, then struggled with command in several of his subsequent outings.

In three SEC appearances he has given up 4 runs on 5 hits and 5 walks in 5 innings, and has 4 strikeouts. He gave up the game-winning home run to South Carolina and was part of the group that gave up 11 runs to Ole Miss in the finale.

It would be great for Arkansas if he can take those types of outings to the weekend, but he hasn’t yet. It’s premature to say he should be a weekend starter.

[/quote]Loseke had great control over-the-plate yesterday. I, too, believe the “walks” has been his achilies heal. Frankly, I think both he and Lee try to pitch too fine (er, just off the plate) …often resulting with the free pass to first. That is, without really fine control the just-off-the-plate becomes very ball.

At this point in the season, you have to think what your rotation will look like in the postseason. We’ve got a really good idea of what that will look like. The only thing we haven’t seen that might pop up is Campbell coming out of the bullpen as a long reliever. Highly unlikely due to questionable weekday starters, but may be in the realm of possibilities. That being said, starters for a regional would be knight, Murphy, Campbell, and bolden (?). Closers are Cronin, maybe reindl, and maybe scroggins. Rutledge, ramage, bonnin, and kostyshock all can give an inning, perhaps two. Long relievers will be loseke and reindl, which means Rutledge might need to be an x-factor. Getting McKinney back would be big, if healthy. Correct me where I’m wrong.

Matt you usually nail the facts around an observation of a performance and with facts! Spot on with this young man. He has ability but just hasn’t some through in conference play yet! If he could have performed like this in game 1 with Moo U the hogs probably nail that game in the win column. The Texas Tech line up is much better than Moo U so he has the ability to get the job done so maybe the flashing light comes on for him and he gets it going !
