Kentucky message board after the game

Always good to see what other fan bases are saying… there were a few who just flat out said that we played exceptionally well but a few said how bad Kentucky is blah blah blah.

The second one pretty much states the obvious. We were much better

They didn’t play well, but we had a lot to do with that.

Absolutely especially in the second half when we jacked up our defense. They had absolutely no chance whatsoever when we did that.

One of them said we’ll look back and realize Kentucky is one of the worst teams we’ve played this year. Nope. That record is 75 miles down I-64 in Louisville.

Yeah that was pretty ridiculous.

We were just that good last night.

We play defense the way we did the second half we can be a nightmare for any offensive team.

I know going in, I thought Kentucky would be a bad matchup for us. Granted I’d not watched them much this season. I thought with Tsheibwa inside and the always decent 3pt shooting they tend to have it would be a long night. They’d zone us and out rebound us and it would be a lopsided loss.

I was never so wrong. I forgot that Cal almost never play zone. He is a man defense guy. We thrive on man coverage. I did not know Tsheibwa was in a funk and basically no where near playing like he did last year. I did not know that the head of their snake, Wheeler, would not be playing.

Turns out we were a bad matchup for Kentucky and I almost never get to say that. I think our length really hurt and bothered Kentucky. Muss built a team to beat teams like Kentucky. Never been happier to be munchin’ on crow pie after that game.

We are getting better now against the zone defenses as well which is going to really put teams in a bind trying to defend us

Agreed. Squid tried the zone and we handled it easily. They’re not a great zone team, but most teams aren’t any more because the trey forces almost everyone to play man most of the time.

Add in a healthy Nick and the zone will not be an issue at all and force teams back into man for sure!

Kentucky is one of the worst teams we played this year? Not that it’s exactly the same, far from it, but reminds me of when we opened Bud Walton with a 120-68 beat down of Missouri in 1993, people said Missouri is terrible, and then they won their league handily. Or when Muhammad Ali said people say all he beats are bums but they aren’t bums until he beats them.

KY may not be a good team, but it’s not because they have bad or untalented players. The skill is there but the chemistry seemed easily disoriented. Cal seems to spend more time chasing refs than coaching.

The Hogs were the first team to shoot over 60 percent in a game against UK since 2007.

Btw, it was nice of Wally Hall to point out what Calapari is doing wrong in today’s column.

My heart bleeds for Kentucky basketball. As I watch them metamorphis into Nebraska football.

I think Missouri went undefeated in Big8 that year and advanced to Elite 8 in the tourney.
