Kansas St. Offers Job to........

What an interesting search. Klieman kept reporters in North Dakota updated on his status throughout, then he was offered the job in the middle of practice while K-State recorded. All of that just seems antithetical to how things typically are done now.

I’ve read that a lot of K-State fans are upset with the hire, but I think he might do well there. His predecessor at NDSU, Craig Bohl, has Wyoming in a bowl game for the third straight year. He laid the foundation at NDSU and Klieman just kept it rolling. He’s in contention for a four national championship in five years.

No doubt. Bohl followed by assistant Klieman have established a DYNASTY.
FCS 's Alabama on STEROIDS
Be watching Prime Time ESPN2 Friday, SDSU vs. NDSU.

The fact those two are playing reminds me of something that happened a couple of years back. Anyone who lives in the Midwest probably is familiar with the sporting goods store Scheels. The company is headquartered in Fargo and is a major supporter of North Dakota State.

A few years ago after one of NDSU’s national championships, Scheels did a promotion in which the trophy would visit various stores across the Midwest. One of those stores was in Sioux Falls, S.D., near where South Dakota State is located. The locals threw a fit and threatened to boycott the store because they see NDSU as SDSU’s primary rival. Eventually the event was canceled.

All of that is to say those two programs don’t particularly care for one another, so it’s intriguing to see them play with a national championship appearance on the line.

[/quote]South Dakota State is 0-3 against their rivals in the FCS playoffs. The Jackrabbits trail in the overall series 61-42-5 and lost earlier this year to the Bison 21-17. That game was at NDSU on September 29, so if the score reflects the closeness of the game, then Friday night’s ballgame could be worth watching.

I have a little insight to the SDSU NDSU deal as I call on both and have friends from both. My current Grad Student is from NDSU. We watched the game together last week. (I invited him to watch the CSU game with me last September - embarrassing ! We could not stay on the field with either of the two Dakota teams. They play football)

It is intense! NDSU is very well coached, and very good. They have reservations each yr in Fisco. My student has requested time off. Of course, I granted it, but warrened there is still work to do. He is very respectful of SDSU .

He also said he hoped his coach got the KSU job. Says he earned it

It’s impressive to see how the North Dakota State fans fill up that stadium in Frisco. It’s like Kentucky at the SEC Tournament or Arkansas at the College World Series, except a heck of a lot farther away.

It is Dec in Fargo. TX is a nice little trip for them

This game will have an Arkansas connection. McClellan’s Lion King, Pierre Strong, totes the ball for SDSU. Go Jack Rabbits!
