It used to be "get them to visit & we can sign them"................

…but maybe that was more true for lower rated recruits. It seems we are getting a lot of visits from higher rated, 4 star, type recruits but, so far, no commits. I keep waiting and hoping for an avalanche of commits. So far, lots of positive impressions, rave reviews on visits, but no commits…yet. That doesn’t mean they won’t come in time. It just means, with the huge (for us) number of high rated recruits visiting so far, it is hard for this Razorback fan to stay patient. :frowning:

I agree. But higher rated kids have the option to wait. They know a scholarship will be waiting on them no matter what. Having said that it sure feels like momentum is building in our favor.

Let the season start and these kids have the chance to see a high powered offense and let’s hope the defense is aggressive.
The only thing that will solve the recruiting issue is winning and not getting blown out and treated like a doormat! It takes time.
The players have to overachieve this year for it to get better.

I’m sure most want to see some action first.

A lot of uncertainty to a new coach.

It also is a domino effect, if we can get one of the big time instate kids to commit, others will be more likely. Good players want to play with good players.

[/quote] let the recruiting process play itself out

I think you’re going to see some activity in the near future.

we are really only dealing with high level recruits.

As RD and DD have said, they’ve never seen this number of 4 stars on campus. That’s essentially all that we are even talking to now, it really is mind-blowing.

And as you said, those kids have LOTS of options and can afford to wait.

They also want to play at a college with a chance to win, which means other good players have to be there.

If my son were a 4 star, I’d love him to play for the hogs, but I’d want to see a few games this fall to get a feel for our team.

If we beat CSU and A&M…that will likely start a haul and the great recruiting class we’ve all been waitjng for since…Steve Atwater’s class lol

This staff is the best conduit to Texas kids we have had in modern hog history. We will probably sign a good class this year, but next year should be much better after a season of play.

Agree 100%. Improvement in Texas and improvement in overall team speed is what this staff seems to be looking for.

Morris and Traylor have prestige and visibility among Texas HS coaches. We did not have many relationships with TOP programs in Texas but these guys are ICONS in TX HS FB circles.

As RD stated earlier and many times recently, we should start seeing some activity next month with some commitments and then go from there. I have always trusted in what he and Duds have had to say on this stuff and will continue to do so due to their inside knowledge and conversations with the kids themselves. However, the wait is BRUTAL lol! Every time I get a BR alert on my phone with a kid committing to another school it stinks but my only relief is that it is a kid I haven’t recognized from any recent visits so it means we haven’t lost one…just yet.

We are unofficial visit and recruiting art retweet national champs.

If you tweet it, they will come.

Keep in mind that the visits we are getting now are much earlier than the visits of the past, because of the new early signing period. I don’t ever remember any (well, maybe one or two) "official’ visits in the spring before a prospect’s senior year. You hoped to get some unofficial visits in the spring and summer, and then the official visits happened in the fall (sometimes, for games) and then Dec-Jan before Feb signing date.

My point being when we had official visitors before, it was further along in their recruiting cycle, and so closer to commitment time. I think there will be some who visit in the spring and then make commitments shortly thereafter, but there will also be those that don’t commit until they take their other visits in the summer and/or fall.

That is true for all schools and when we lag way behind the rest of the West including a “walking wounded” program like Ole Miss, it gets frustrating.

I think the new signing dates make it hard to determine if we are behind or not. We are also on better players and much earlier as stated above… but also counter to the past when we got on players late that were given the cold shoulder by prestigious schools that were filling up. We will have an opportunity to influence them much earlier now so they know us enough to make a clean move to us if they get the cold shoulder by Bama, OU, Texas, etc.
