It is the play of McAdoo and McGlothern that has allowed Odom to blitz ----------

---------------- frequently putting huge pressure on the opposing QB. It is a feast or famine reality and we have been burned frequently but that is less frequent now with better athletes stepping up at QB. We tried Clark, Chavis, and several others and they got beat too much to continue. Now, our corners are holding their own against the SEC enough that it is mostly working. If Odom can continue to recruit and develop SEC corners and pick up a few more elite D-linemen, he can really dial it up. Go Hogs!

Completely agree. 100%. You have mediocre corners, you can’t press, and your blitzing options are limited.

It sure has changed Odoms play calling! Keep it up on Friday

Aloha,
A couple of comments here….
OM had 703 yards total offense last night with a pair of RBs breaking 200 yards each. OM rang up 21 points in the Fourth Qtr. Good teams like Bama and Georgia don’t let that happen when they are winning in a rout.
Secondly, McGothern (msp?) was trash talking to the OM bench the entire night until he got unhinged and in the Fourth Qtr with a pair of stupid penalties and got pulled from the game.
UA…Campus of Champions

While all true but Bama eecked by OM last week & GA eecked by KY this week. But even Sam said he let off the gas too early. .

That most certainly has helped shore up our pass defense for sure…

I can totally understand that we need elite DL if we’re ever going to get to the next level, but if you’re only going to put up a 3 man front you are going to always get gouged in the Run game unless you have 4 lb’s behind them, we have 2.
How he just sat back and watched them just totally run up and down the field on us in the fourth quarter and never go to a 4 man is absolutely unbelievable to me because what we were doing was definitely broken and needed to be fixed but we never tried to.

Meanwhile hogs went into prevent offense after Sanders td run to start 2nd half…running clock befire every snap and running into line darn near every play…cost Sanders a 300 yd rushing game

Slusher being back (and healthy), Clarke moving to Safety, all help.

It was 42-6 two plays into the 3rd quarter. Doesn’t really matter after that, stat wise.

We opted to let them help us burn the clock to zeroes, sticking in a 3-2 front that allowed run gaps while taking away over-the-top plays. As long as LK was trying to win (going for two, onside kicks) we were not going to make it any easier. That said, two series at the end with backups (sprinkle in on defense, 2nd unit on offense) might not have hurt. But, the point for this paragraph is two-fold - we forced them to burn clock by allowing some run gaps, and LK didn’t sub in either, so you leave your starters out there. Backups are a sign of concession. Maybe LK was waiting on Sam? Nah, he wasn’t giving up.

It is dishonest to talk about a player yapping without noting that OM was just as yappy - from the first play - and had some borderline dirty plays (late hit out of bounds on the faux fumble return by Blair, our sideline; diving at KJ’s ankles at the sideline, OM side…just two examples). OM analysts or GAs (had headsets on) were cursing at our players (if you read lips) and OM players were talking to UA coaches on the sideline. Nudie has the swagger and game to talk too. Towards the end, the play where Nudie was pulled as about the two players bumping each other gaining control after an incomplete and then neither backing down. Sam can’t have his lockdown cover CB sit for a game because he is suspended. Same with players pulling Dalton Wagner off the OM punk who took a pop at KJ - the one commendable thing about Lane Kiffin last night was him benching the player the rest of the way.

All the “coach types” on here will know that there is world of difference in “playing to win versus playing not to lose”!!

All of those players can return next season too.
The defense took leaps and bounds of improvement. Slusher being back really helps too. I just wonder. Is it possible for Catlon to rehab and come back next season?
