At least one definition:
Irony - a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result.
However, for us it may not be that amusing.
Take a coach from one of the historic door-mat football programs in the SEC and put him in as HC of an admitted storied Big Ten football program still suffering under arguable the heaviest NCAA sanctions of any program outside of SMU and maybe USC. And his team wins the Big Ten title in his third year after beating tOSU along the way.
Then take a coach from a somewhat less storied Big Ten program which had won three straight Big Ten titles before jumping to a mid-level SEC program where he is still struggling to finish 7-5 in the regular season in his third and fourth seasons.
Actually, I continue to try and figure out why the latter would make that move.
