Intense O'Toole eyeing Arkansas visit

As a kid who was fast, usually fastest on whatever team, was taught I could not get there any faster by diving, whether it be finish line or first base. Beat out a lot of grounders and bunts, hit a lot of dribblers, ha…never dove. I guess the thinking has changed.

In track you have to get your torso to the line first. They frequently lean and sometimes dive to do that. At the SEC meet one of the Aggies sprinters dived to get his chest to the line first. It worked, too. I agree when running to first base, diving is not good unless you’re going under a swipe tag, but touching the base with your foot is all you have to do. Your foot does not count in track, it’s your body.
