Insiders, be real with us

It is possible, coach B just had a run of bad luck of 5 loses to major teams. Wins or loses are kind of like flipping coins and coming up heads 5 times. In that case the odds are about 1 in 16. In a streak of loses, you cannot count the first loss in the odds, because sooner or later all teams will have a loss or, if a coin, sooner or later the coin will be a head. Therefore, instead of 1 in 32, the odds are 1 in 16. That is not uncommon.

That analogy is totally off base, because the flip of a coin is TOTALLY based on chance.

Luck does come into play in winning a football game, but only when the competition is pretty equal itself.

Strange thing, the team that plays better will almost always win.

Coach Broyles was asked once about whether God intervened in football games. His response was that God was usually on the side of the team with the better defensive tackles. I would ay the same about Luck.

I don’t think he will quit or be fired during the season. But, things change. I don’t pretend to know or can predict what is going to happen over the next few weeks. There are so many variables, some of which are the other teams, some of which are in a bad spiral. Of course, the two best teams in the SEC West, Alabama and Auburn, are next. Sometimes all it takes is a spark or two to get something going the right direction. Would anyone predict that? Probably not right now.

Quit on life???

It was a totally unnecessary line that I’m sure lots of people just loved. I’ve always been of the opinion that if you wouldn’t say it to someone’s face you shouldn’t post it on a message board.

And I have no doubt that twerp wouldn’t say it to Bielema. But that’s the world of journalism these days–overrun by Internet tough guys.

Doubt be mentioned quitting on life when Dabo wore a sweatshirt

I do think Torres has a point though. It does seem that once this team faces a hint of adversity, they collapse. Second half blowouts would suggest that IMO

Lost your senior leader of the receivers, lost one of the best RBs in the Sec,have Juco’s who haven’t showed up or can’t get healthy, highly ranked linemen that hasn’t developed enough to beat out freshmen, injury to Pulley, is just a few of the reasons we are struggling plus implementing a new D scheme hasn’t helped. All of these things are excuses why we are not playing to level that we expected this season and most everyone is disappointed and rightfully so. I’m clinging to the hope that things improve and CBB can hold on, I think this team lacks maturity, development and experience and we have a lot of good young talent with some speed but we are not playing as a team yet. If some way he pulls these guys together as a team and we can gain some confidence we may see the team we expected to see by seasons end, if not who knows where things go from here. Hoping that the best for this program is still ahead of us. WPS

I don’t see those as excuses; I see them as facts. There might be 10 college teams with the depth to replace their best running back, receiver and defensive back. The rest are going to struggle at times because of it.

Those are facts conveniently overlooked by many. They don’t speak to two straight years of poor offensive and defensive line play and second-half collapses. But tell most teams in the SEC (not named Alabama or perhaps Auburn) that they were going to lose the SEC-leading rusher, an All-SEC cornerback and the most experienced receiver among a group of inexperienced guys and I would suspect most be greatly concerned as to how much they would win. That’s not a knock on Curl, Nance and the RBs we have.

Realistically these 5 games could closely be compared to the flip of coin. Arkansas may have been heavily favored against Missouri, but otherwise the point spreads were close and the average extremely close.

[/quote] What if he came out in a press conference & said: “Just pay me my money”?

People writing in this string about bad optics got me to thinking about the optic of losing compared to terminating a coach. 4-9 against Power 5 teams over the last season and a half is a bad optic and it’s about to get worse. I feel for the guy but I also feel for the fans that have emotional ownership in Arkansas’ flagship school.

I agree with you completely!

Never heard of the guy until now. I usually go back and read tweets to see how a person comments or reports on stories and I did with this guy. He’s another Clay Travis wanna be that’s prevalent in today’s world. Getting personal sells I guess.

I’m all for the truth but when you get personal you lose me and I quit reading.

It is the play of the offensive line that is breaking the camel’s back. Lack of depth when injuries hit can be a factor, but our problem is no running game and no pass protection in the O-line. We have running backs who could replace Williams if they got blocking. CBB has made it plain that he builds his teams around strong O-lines and power running. For the O-line to be weak two years in a row with no solution in sight shakes the very foundation for faith in Bret Bielema.

This is what I’m stuck on as well.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but I don’t think the offensive line is any worse this year than it was a year ago, and Williams still put up big numbers. Arkansas misses him. He helped offset some deficiencies.

After watching him the other day I had a horrific flashback to JLS screaming “I got no answers!”

After taking a complete beat down the next two weeks, I can’t see all of a sudden an unexplained resurgence. Maybe the Costal Carolina game will be what the team needs. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if we finish 3-9 or 4-8.

My intention was to say that many would see those issues as excuses instead of facts, like you said lack of depth exposes weaknesses quickly. WPS
