I have to admit I’ve pretty much given up on the Razorback Foitball program as a lost cause
That it was moving from being a State Of Arkansas program to simply a University program - which could care less about the rest of us (I don’t think that was Coach Bret’s doing)
Well I’m starting to have hope that our current leadership again sees the program as belonging to the State of Arkansas and her people - All of them.
Right now I’m interested in who the DC is but honestly - Arkansas brand is so damaged I don’t think we can be choosers about who the s DC
I think a young talented Head Coach and new AD will build this program back
DC - let’s see how he does - instead and f being negative
I get why people are negative - we have had years of sunshine pumping with no real consistent stellar performance since the crash in a ditch incident
Now this fan - is ready to hit the reset button and see how it plays out
I’m hopeful again
Not going to redivule this new staff as they try and get the program stable
But whenI hear a Coach day Arkansss is a sleeping giant and it’s a program not different from Clemson
Happy to sense a little optimism in your post, Bluegrass. Believe me - I’ve been around as long (probably longer) than you have, and I understand how a Hog fan can get a case of the "beat down"s . . . But the old adage “things are never as good or as bad as they seem” seems appropriate; we don’t have ALL the players that we need - that’s true. But it’s also true that the cupboard is not bare. We just need a few more players, and a NEW ATTITUDE.
I’m all in to give CCM some time to install his system and recruit to it. I think we’ll know after his second year if we’re trending in the right direction. We certainly did under Petrino. On the other hand, it appeared we were after whipping Texas in the finale of CBB’s second season.
But at age 64, I’m in for the long haul, come what may. I believe you are too - you just needed to shake the blues! Let’s sit back and see what happens.
Bluegrass, I too am optimistic. Our great teams always had a Texas favor to them. With this coach, I believe the Texas connection is there. However, only time will tell and I’m confident it will happen. WPS.
Ok Boarbarin/Bluegrass you have come back on here with a wave of positivity & that’s much needed around here.
I’m having the butterfly in stomach feelings as well.
Sometimes change is good or bad. In our case it could get no worse.
Here’s to fist pumping hog calling good times ahead.
Happy New Year All!!!
I’m with ya’ll on this one. Definitely feeling positive. In fact, I just made hotel reservations for next year’s games, way earlier than usual. WOO PIG SOOIE!!!
Good post, although I may not be overly excited I’m all in to give CCM time to implement his program and get his recruits to fit his system. However I will get more excited as positive results come about as time passes, I’m just not going to be shouting from the rooftops about what our Coach did at Clemson and SMU its what he gets done hear that will get my engine revved up. I’m full of hope that he will be the coach that brings the Hogs to national prominence and do it with no dark clouds looming. Just don’t want to be a program that will win no matter the cost and I think we may have side stepped that problem by hiring CCM ! Wishing all the great Hog fans and coaching staff and players a safe and Happy New Year a day early. WPS!!
I don’t care what Morris did at Clemson and certainly don’t care what he did at SMU.
I don’t care what the previous coach did at Wisconsin.
Like Hogbacker it’s about Arkansas and I look forward to supporting Morris as he attempts to rebuild the program. Based on the previous five years we are without a doubt the Vanderbilt of the West - dead last at the moment. It won’t be easy at all and will require hard work and a little luck along the way, but I’m hopeful Morris and staff can make us a competitive program in the SEC West.
Oh, there is absolutely some doubt about that. Who did we beat this season, on their field? Ole Miss. Who is in NCAA jail with its best player bailing out for Michigan? Ole Miss. It may take the Rebnecks a decade to recover from what Bucky led them into.
There’s no where to go from we are with a tight strong hold on the bottom of the barrel. I just want to see aggressive football. No more bend don’t break junk defense.
I’m also tired of friends that calling and tagging me after a Hog loss!
Wait a second. Excited again? I moved to Little Rock in 1994. Since then, we have averaged 7 wins per year in that 23 year period. So, for a quarter of a century we average 7 WINS PER SEASON! So, what exactly are you getting excited about, again? I like Razorback football and I look forward to each season. But, let’s be somewhat reasonable.
Well, I don’t want to speak for the OP, but I will speak for myself.
Within the period you mention, we have had some good years - 1995, 1998, 2001-2003, 2006, 2010, 2011 . . .
And for those of us (OP and myself, among many others), we recall a time (late 1950’s through the 1980’s) when it was a surprise when the Hogs didn’t win 8 or more games and go Bowling (and that in an era when were only playing 10 or 11 games, and there were much fewer Bowls). It’s been a while, but we curmudgeons still remember.
