Very much so. Fouled off several pitches, took one off the top of his foot. Didn’t slow him enough to keep him from scoring on the wild pitch a few minutes later. But if he doesn’t work the walk none of that happens and Welch is probably pinch-hitting in the bottom of the ninth.

I thought the same thing (watching the replay). Two outs, no one on. Two strikes, maybe one ball? Kept fouling pitch after pitch, taking one here and there and BINGO, a walk.

I kept thinking, wow, they were one strike away from getting out of it.
