Four three-team pools playing round robin (two games each), four pool winners into the semifinals, semifinal winners into the final. Duke and NC State are in the final now and both only played three games to get there. No loser’s bracket, everybody gets a day off during pool play. If there’s a tie in pool play, the highest seeded team gets the tiebreaker, which is sorta equivalent to the SEC giving the top 4 teams the day off on Tuesday.
What I like about it is that nobody has to play five or six games to win. If Ole Miss had beaten us yesterday, today would have been their sixth game, Not that I mind the Rebnecks cooking their pitching staff, but it could be us in that situation.
