Obviously the hire didn’t go as planned a couple of times or so, but I’ll say this, this is a bold hire. Hope it works out.
I don’t think there were as many logs in the fire as some have speculated.
It appears they talked to Chris Beard’s people.
Wasn’t going to happen.
It appears they talked to Gregg Marshall’s people. That wasn’t going to happen.
They talked to Eric Musselman or his people.
It appears that is going to happen.
This narrative of how it was supposed to go - just how was it supposed to go?
I have no idea, I don’t think there is a ‘supposed to go’ way. You go after the best you can and work from there. I’m sure he did that, and I’m pretty sure it didn’t go exactly as he wanted, and he made a hire, I find Muss to be a bold hire. JMHO.
Was Sampson ever involved or in the picture?
Yes, obviously Sampson was in the discussion.
Was he the first choice or did he and his agent work he system - or both?
That I don’t know.
I just think it’s hard to know what the ladder was.
There are many who believe he was 1A of the legit candidates.
I don’t know, but I like the apparent hire.
I’m all in on the Golden State model.
I look very very forward to seeing that, especially with Joe in it.
He’s always coached to the talent in his many stops, by his own admission. He’s played high tempo and low tempo. The good news is that he’s shown he can win either way. It seems pretty likely with the core he would inherit here is better off playing a higher tempo.
I think tempo for the offense will find itself, based on his Nevada teams. He seems much more concerned about putting enough shooters out there, and demanding that guys be able to drive the ball to the goal. And everybody has to play tough, physical defense, with a half court man and a mix of press looks.
