For the record, when Bret was hired, I called him not making it to five years, I said Long would not make it either. Neither were here for Bret’s five year anniversary. I said Chad Morris would struggle, was told I was wrong (2-10). I said Mike would have the fanbase turn on him because this was a bigger turn around than people thought. So, far I’ve been correct about the last 3 “Big money sports’ hires. Why should I think I am wrong now? And why do y’all think I am?
Baked…no worries bro. Sampson isn’t likely to come. He will get a nice raise and promise to let his son succeed him there. We will hire an up and comer and then we can get your prediction. I remain skeptical that firing Mike will result in an upgrade. Better hope we get the right up and comer bc we’ve sat through two of those hires and it took Mike 3-4 years to just rebuild it to a decent level.

KHOU - Houston: is saying (as of 11 hours ago) that their sources are saying Sampson could take the job. He could take the job at the end of the season.
Interesting that they’re saying that word. Usually, it a word like “expected”
I think this comes down to how much longer does he want to coach. If he wants to coach 8-10 more, I could see him making a move. Any less I doubt he makes the move.
Better than 3 for 8 Mike. Seriously. Getting to the dance 11 out of 12 years in the Big 12 is pretty impressive. How can anyone argue that? I want our program relevant again. I don’t care who the coach is.

All I know is guy is in sweet sixteen, has a 29-2 record, ranked. Where are we? And to say this is not an upgrade? I don’t care who they hire, but whoever they hire is someone HY thinks can get us to next level. Will it work, no one knows. Most thought Anderson could bring us back to glory days and he did not. Improved us yes, made us a power again, no.
Can’t say I told ya so until it plays out for those that seem to hate a possible Sampson hire and that will take time. As far as Morris, I did not like a 2-10 season but he was left very little to work with. At least he is recruiting his tail off. Give him time before you call him a disaster after 1 lousy season.
And to say I’m not an Arkansas fan if I like this hire (if it is the hire) is totally inane and not accurate. Like I said, I don’t care who they hire, it’s not my position to say or approve, not my job , I’m a fan period.

I don’t question KS’s coaching ability. Anyone questioning his track record has a serious agenda driven opinion. My issues/questions concern 3 things.
His age: I wish he was at the very least a decade younger.
Recruiting: Atrocious recruiting at Houston
Show Cause: Has he truly learned?
A REAL FAN supports the UA and gets behind them no matter the hire, duh, the coach is a very big part of the team.
At least wait until KS is actually hired before throwing a 12 year old’s tantrum

His age, major concern to me. If he comes here, he has a different style and has to rebuild, how long does that take. It took him 4 at Houston to reach the tourney and five to make it to the Sweet 16. Five years, he’s 69, how long will he coach? Who is his replacement? Again, he wants it to be his son, do we really want that?

Yes, a concern, but what is the reason? Edit: On this point, last year when people were on the Fire Mike bandwagon, I looked at every school over the previous seven years who were better than Mike on a myriad of things he was “not good enough at”, including recruiting. Mark Few was behind him, so, even though his recruiting is behind, it doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing.
