Wish Malik all the luck in the world.
He’d probably have a future in the NFL if he gave up the idea of being a QB. Had he accepted that he’s more cut out for some other position, he probably could have stayed here & contributed.
Too big an ego and too little maturity.
It certainly took a while for him to find a place where he stood a decent chance of being QB1.
Texas State went 4-8 last year, and then fired their coach. Their starting QB was junior Lane Hatcher, who started out at Arkansas State, and played high school ball at Pulaski Academy. Hatcher had pretty decent stats throwing the ball considering the lack of talent on the team, but he is not a running threat at all. I think he’s got one more year of eligibility.
The new HC there is G.J. Kinne, a young guy(age 34) who got Incarnate Word in San Antonio into the FCS playoffs, with some flashy offensive numbers and a reputation as being good with QBs.
I think I read that Hatcher transferred or is transferring from TSU
Wish him all the best…
will try to keep up with him next year
If he couldn’t crack the lineup at either QB or WR at Arkansas, I doubt he would make it in the NFL at those or any other position(s). His huge skill set is linear speed. I wonder if he should give college track a try as a sprinter?
Hatcher is now at Ball State
