For Arkansas
That would be interesting. Jeremy is drooling right now.
Yes I am! Would love nothing more than to play home and home with The Squid. Itās good for the conference too. We are elite again, and we aināt going backwards. Bring it on!
Thereās a reasonable chance that the Hogs, KY, Bama, and A&M could be the best 4 teams in the SEC next season! You put those 3 home and road games and the Hawaii Tournament in and we should automatically be in the top 10 of the NET, with their fascination with the āSOSā.
Last season, our weak non-con schedule hurt us in the NET. This year, it almost wonāt matter who we play in non-conf. Between those 9 games, plus FL, AU, TN, OK, Baylor, the SECT and another probable 2 or 3 SEC surprise teams, we are looking at around 20 Quad 1 games.
BTW we wound up with 16 Q1 games last year. After the tournament.
You have to look at SOS. Winning 28 games in the SEC is different than winning 28 in the Patriot League because of SOS. Gonzaga knows that and thatās why they play a very tough NC schedule. RPI was bad. NET is a little better but not perfect.
Tennessee will likely have something to say about the top 4. The Vols will be good again.
So will Auburn, unfortunately
In addition to Auburn and Tennessee, I am surprised how well LSU has recruited, given the WillWade disaster.wonder what kind of motivation Juice Hill will have to prove himself in SEC and especially Arkansas since Muss pulled his scholarship.
I honestly think Tennessee and Auburn are just toying around with basketball until their football programs come around again. Neither program has any real basketball tradition. Same with Bama and A&M.
Looks like Muss got a peek too.
Not like Bama has to wait for football to come aroundā¦
I think Justice will struggle to get shots up against bigger SEC defenders that are just as quick as he is. Heās taking a big step up from Murray St. Weāll see.
All 4 of the programs you mentioned have good coaches. All 4 have also been recruiting well. Tradition or not, those programs will all remain good in the here-and-now as long as those coaches are there.
Obviously, we will become more and more elite under Coach Muss, and shouldnāt be too concerned about what anyone else is doingā¦ā¦. but there are other SEC teams, even with minimal tradition, that are currently pushing us to get better.
Season 4 with Oates at Bama should be interesting. I still canāt decide if I believe heās a good coach or not lol.
I think Oates is an upgrade from the previous few Tide coachesā¦ā¦ but, Iād say heās 4th on the list of those 4 coaches mentioned.
Donāt like anything Bama but when Oates yelled āget off the __ courtā at Wade after the Tide beat the Tigers in the SEC Tournament, I kinda liked him.
The SEC formally announced conference opponents for 2022-23 this morning. Should be a fun home schedule:
Itās nice to see the SEC treating us as a top team by pairing us up with Kentucky and Alabama to play twice this year. I expect that the tv networks will also treat us as a top team with their coverage.
I think itās safe to say Arkansas is now at the big kidsā table.
