The last staff avoided legacies and East TX like the plague.

They should have offered Keith Jackson’s son that went to Illinois.
They recruited Mabry. He developed a real good relaltionship with Chip Long while Chip was at Memphis. I was told Chip had him locked up for ND.
California and Illinois were the best offers for Luc and Kenyon.
According to a family member, Mabry was never offered by UA. Not only was Jim a star for the Hogs, but the grandfather played for UA. Both of Cole Mabry’s parents are UA grads.
Without looking it up, I think Luc Bequette started for Cal as a sophomore.
I thought there were other legacies that we missed on. Maybe I’m wrong.

Second, Keith Jackson’s son that went to Illinois had ZERO SEC offers.
Luc Bequette’s only SEC offer was Vanderbilt. His other offers were La-Monroe, Air Force, Navy and Memphis. But yeah let’s offer because he’s a legacy.

I spoke to Jim Mabry (Cole’s Uncle) more than once about this. We didn’t offer, but we were in contact. Cole had ZERO SEC offers and Jim said Cole was Memphis all the way due to his relationship with the OL Coach Chip Long. He said as soon as Coach Long went to the staff at Notre Dame he knew he would not be going to Memphis. He was Irish all the way.

Cincinnati
Colorado State
When you are so thin on the DL you have to move Deon Malone over then you’ve screwed up. Not saying either Bequette or Jackson would be All Americans but could have added much needed depth.
Do you deny that Bielema and the gang did a poor job of recruiting the DL in their latter years? Not enough depth !

[/quote]Message boards are an interesting place, on any given day the hot topic can move from Bielema showing favoritism and being wrong in having two Allen boys as quarterbacks (I know Bobby did not play at Arkansas, so his boys are not legacies in the same way these others are) to another day where Bielema was negligent in not recruiting legacies.
