Hogs in the Masters field

Plural.

Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira, current UA senior from Argentina, won the Latin American Amateur and with it a spot in the Masters.

And Taylor Moore got in by winning the tour event in Tampa last month.

Mateo isn’t the only current SEC player in the field. Gordon Sargent of Vandy won the NCAA last year and was given a special invitation to the Masters, and Sam Bennett of A&M won the US Amateur last year which is an automatic invitation.

cbssports.com did a ranking of the Masters field, 1-88. Moore is #62 and Mateo is #81.

Mateo’s Masters newser:

I could never get that video to play. I tried two browsers and turned off my ad blocker with no luck.

So I did a search and found the video on YouTube.

Taylor Moore is the only one in field to get a baseball scholarship offer from Dave Van Horn. Taylor was a soph in high school. I believe he and Brian Anderson played on same travel squad.

Taylor is playing really well and a high Masters’ finish wouldn’t shock me… go get them Hog.

He has always been great tee to green. But he’s making more putts. He did not miss any from 7 feet and in at Valspar. These greens are different. But I’m interested in how he does. Winning should help his confidence.

Who won the par 3 contest?

There’s just not a whole lot of straight putts at Augusta. Miss in the correct spots and avoid the big number the first 2 days and he could very well find himself near the top on Sunday that’s all
Anyone can hope for! This is one of the best sporting events of the year.

Tom Hogge.

Does Arkansas no longer claim David Lingmerth? He is not listed in the email talking about Razorbacks playing at the Masters.

He’s not in the Masters, Marty. Not high enough in the world rankings to get in.

OK, I thought that I saw something about him being there.
