Hogs and LSU in SEC soccer final

Corndogs beat Poultry 1-0 on an own goal in the semifinal.

Neither school has ever won the SECT title. Final is at noon Sunday on SECN. We beat LSU 2-1 on Oct. 4 at Razorback Field with Tori Cannata scoring both goals, including the winner in the second OT.

Arkansas will be playing its third game in six days, whereas LSU will be playing its fourth game in eight days. I like Arkansas’ chances. It was the team playing behind the eight ball the past two years. The Razorbacks last year were the lowest-seeded team (No. 8) to make it to the championship round. LSU is the No. 7 seed this year.

I like our chances too. We won yesterday by pressing Florida and wearing them down. With four games in eight days, LSU will be susceptible to our press. They only scored on us in Fayetteville on a penalty kick for a hand ball anyway.

LSU has been susceptible to set pieces this year and that is Arkansas’ strength on offense. LSU has given up 11 goals on set pieces this year; Arkansas scored 12 of its 20 goals in conference play on set pieces. The header yesterday came just after a corner kick.
