Hog men complete SEC triple crown

Track team beat Bama by 10 points to win the outdoor championship at Texas A&M. Then they disqualified a Bama guy who finished second in the 5000 for dropping a shoulder into one of our guys so the final margin becomes 23.

Women are about to win their title too. Just have to get the stick around in the 4x400 relay

And the women finished ahead of LSU in the 4x4, which clinched it. Won by 6.5 points.

As an aside, the new A&M track stadium is very nice. No grass in the infield, so I guess the discus and javelin have to be held somewhere else. They have a sprint runway down the middle of the infield, much like an indoor track, and pole vault runways criss-cross like an airport to get favorable winds, I guess.

Alabama had a runner disqualified in the 5K, so Arkansas’ final margin was 129-109 in the men’s standings.

The women outscored LSU 127-120.5.

Triple crown for the women as well.

Way to go ladies and gents. What a track program they have. Goes back to the day Frank saw this guy leading his cross country guys back into town from a 10 mi run. Frank said that is who I want to head the track program. I think the guy was from overseas some place. Heard he turned out to be a pretty good coach.

Aloha,

When was the last time UA Men’s and Women’s swept all three titles (XC, Indoor and Outdoor) together during the same school year?
Has any other SEC school ever accomplished such an incredible feat?

GHG!

Track and Field= Arkansas Razorbacks!

I don’t know, Guy, but I do know how many schools have won the NCAA triple crown in a single year: Four. UTEP men, Arkansas men, Oregon women, Arkansas women. That’s it.

Here are Bob Holt’s recaps with comments from the coaches:

Arkansas last swept all meets in 2015-16. Tennessee did it before Arkansas entered the league.
