I mentioned Arkansas’ preseason top-10 rankings the last several years. Here are the preseason rankings the last six seasons, according to the coaches polls:
2018: 6
2019: 12
2020: 5
2021: 8
2022: 4
2023: 6
The Razorbacks finished the 2018-19 and 2021-22 seasons in the top 10, too. They were 15th when the 2020 season ended prematurely, but I thought that team was going to round into form.
Before 2018, Arkansas was lucky to be ranked in the preseason most years, and if it was, its ranking was typically high teens or in the 20s. One notable exception was 2013 when the Razorbacks were ranked first in the preseason.
It goes to show how the reputation of the program has changed.

I saw a writeup on Texas and they lost a ton as well only have 1 established hitter coming back. They will be relying on pitching, but lost several there too, so it will be 2 teams looking like mirror images of each other. Both must get production from players that are unproven so far.
David Pierce is a really good pitching coach. I’ll be surprised if Texas doesn’t have some dudes to throw at Arkansas. I suspect left-hander Lucas Gordon will start.
yeah I started to mention him as he was one they higlighted.I know I would start a LH.
He was 7-2 3.05 ERA 85 IP 71 hits 77K teams hit .224 against him so he is good.
I think Arkansas will probably start a pretty good left-hander, too.

Yeah I feel like we will be able to match up with anybody if our guys pitch the way they’re capable. Really looking forward to seeing how Hollan does and also seeing if Wiggins has improved as much as I’ve heard
