Great athletes are usually not successful head coaches........................

…so the sons of head coaches are rarely stars who are heavily recruited. Chandler Morris appears to be an exception to this rule. I am having a hard time thinking of any D-1 head coaches whose sons are or were top recruits. So, I don’t find a model or typical result for this situation. Usually, the head coach’s son is a walk-on, role player, who may be a future coach in the making, but not a top player or top recruit. There is no doubt that Chandler is worthy of a full scholarship at Arkansas. He could also be a very preferred walk-on (since his Dad can afford to pay his way) and that would free up a extra scholarship. So getting a commit from Chandler would be a two for one deal which makes it even more attractive. I hope he comes to help his Dad turn our program around. JMVVVVVVHO.

Nick Saban comes to mind. For Morris, being the top of an Elite 11 program is remarkable, however.

Did Saban have a son who is/was a high caliber recruit?

[/quote]Nick was the son of the Buffalo Bills head coach. Nick was a fair athlete, not sure he was a “great athlete”, but he was also a coach at several colleges before he landed at MSU, LSU, etc.

Wrong.

Lou Saban and Nick Saban are not related. Nick’s dad, Nick Sr., ran a Gulf station in rural West Virginia. Even if they had been related, Nick was not a highly sought recruit coming out of high school.

Here’s a good story on Nick’s relationship with his dad and his hometown.

If you didn’t read the article on Sagan need to do so—wonderful article

Saban

It’s great to see a man willing to give and show they care for others! I still don’t like Alabama and hope that some day we can beat them.
