My niece’s daughter Caroline Lyles is a freshman at Tulsa. She’s had a tough go since her mom (my niece) lost her battle with cancer when Caroline was 14. Tonight she was a major factor in Tulsa beating Cincinnati 64-50. She was 3/4 from 3 point range, 3/3 from FT line and had another bucket for 14 points. She had 5 rebounds and 2 steals. The TV guys named her player of the game and she was interviewed after the game. We’re so proud of her in every way. She had the best grade point on the basketball team her first semester in college (all A’s). She plays to honor Jesus and her mom. Sorry…I just needed to brag. We love her so much.
Brag away, Danny. That girl is special!
Keep on bragging LD. It sounds like the young lady is a great ball player!
LD - as I recall, Donna had another daughter named Emily. How is she doing?
As most folks know, all I do is represent people who buy and sell hotels. Donna was a family law lawyer who had a client who was an LLC member in one of my hotel deals. She was always gracious and appreciated my expertise in this area. I enjoyed emailing her.
Thanks Pav. Means a lot hearing you brag about Donna. She spent a lot of time with me and Suzi growing up. She was like another daughter. We were with her the last 2 weeks of her life. She helped a lot of people in her family practice. Many pro bono. Carolines older sister Emily is about to graduate with her Masters at the UofA. She has passed one of her CPA tests and has a job lined up with Ernst and Young in Dallas. Both girls remind us of Donna in different ways. Thanks again. It really means a lot.
Tulsa is a great school. She’s going to have more than a piece of paper when she’s done there. I was always impressed with the folks who came through that school. There will be great opportunities for her in that town, too. Thanks for sharing. I especially liked the academic mention from you. It’s so important.
I can recall the night that my daughter – after answering all of my questions about a road game in college that I couldn’t attend – mentioned that I rarely asked her about school. I was convicted. She got a great education at Northeastern State (an education school) and is now a vice principal.
Keep asking her about her academics, Danny. She’s going to go pro in something besides basketball and do so wonderfully well. I just know it.
So many great people here, Danny.
I love how you brag on Caroline, but I am equally glad that Pav brought up Emily.
Not a doubt in my mind that Donna dances with angels.
What an amazing family.
Love you.
not a thing wrong with bragging…did for both my kids and all 4 of the grandkids and now with the oldest granddaughter pregnant…will brag on the great grand kid!
Just great reading! I can’t type much like others but the thoughts are there…
An awesome glimpse into a well grown family. Brainy people are plentiful in your family. Christ centered with brains, focus and determination. A blessing just knowing these folks are among us. LD, thanks for sharing. I’m always stunned with the depth and content you convey with your writing. I think the succinctness always reminds me of my lack in that regard. Safe travels, brother.
do not minimize how she performs, she belongs with the beautifulballers group that includes ChrissieCarr. Be very proud of her LD.
It’s really not bragging if you have the box score and “report card” to support your statement. My daughter lives in Chicago and her daughter, who is a first grader, told her mother last week that she thought she was the smartest kid in her class. She concluded the comment with “not bragging, just saying”. That should be your position LD, “not bragging , just saying”.
Man that’s awesome LD! I wish I could have watched that game. Says a lot that she’s doing so well after losing her mom.
