Goodness Yankees

I’ve enjoyed the MLB talk here lately, so I thought I would add to it. The Yankees had a horrible night on the bases and lost a 13-inning game to the Mariners last night. That dropped New York to 71-40 and into a tie with Houston for first in the AL standings. If the postseason began today, Houston would be the No. 1 seed. New York is 7-12 since the All-Star break and 13-19 since July 3.

I was surprised to look at the standings this morning and see that the Mets now have a better record than the Yankees. Dodgers have the best record overall and would have WS home field if they get there.

Astros are kind of staggering too; scored one run in their last 18 innings of the Cleveland series and fell behind 4-0 last night to the Strangers. But they got a grand slam and came back to win.

I would think that some of those NYY plays will make the Jayson Stark Weird and Wild column in The Athletic.

Anytime the Yanks lose is a good time.

Astros now have the best record in the AL after beating Texas this afternoon.
