I just read what all the guys said in HI about their insights for the game. Seems like a 2.5 to 3 TD win for GA. After reading about their team, I would probably say the same or even worse. Seems the HI guys are expecting an improvement, as am I. Still, on paper, how can we expect one of the bottom D1 teams (at least last year), be expected to stay on the field with one of the very best. It will be interesting to see.
I guess my point is that we should not pay too much attention to the score in making evaluation of progress of the program. I will be looking for effort, and knowing what to do. Even if they just get 11 on the field will be an improvement. Will their play be solid or a laughing stock shown on ESPN for comedy. Will MSU look at the film and think we are in for a fight.
One thing about the score at least later in the game will be Kirby’s feeling toward Sam. Did they part on a good basis? It seems so. If that is the case, then he will probably call off the dogs as soon as he feels the W is well in hand.
Now I am not seeding a victory to them. They have to come in here and take it. They are certainly capable and should, but I want to see them have to work for it. If that happens, then Arkansas’ Program has improved. The past few years, GA would not even had to bring their top two lines of players to get a win. I want them to have to work for it.
Georgia can probably win this game on talent alone. I picked 38-10. I think that defense might be the best the Razorbacks see all year.
I think the score can be ugly and Arkansas can still learn a lot of positive traits about its team. Are the Razorbacks more physical? Do they play with good technique? Is there better effort than we saw under Morris?
Those are characteristics that can show even against superior competition. I don’t think I’m going to be focused on whatever the final score is as much as I am the answer to those questions. I tend to think I’ll like the answers, and it’s why I’m optimistic the team might win a few games this year.
Yeah, if it’s 38-0 5 minutes before half, and then Georgia does nothing but hand the ball off, then we haven’t improved much. If it’s 24-10 entering the 4th qt, then we have.
I may not be in the majority, but I am still upset that the SEC chose to “throw the Hogs to the Dogs” and to Florida instead of allowing Arkansas some relief from what was already the toughest schedule in football. It is very obvious the conference did not want to take a chance on Alabama, Florida, or LSU losing a game.
Remember, though, this same Georgia team lost at home last year to a bad South Carolina team. Weird things happen; they have a new QB running a new offense, and turnovers are the great equalizer. I’m sticking with my earlier prediction of a close loss though.
Somebody was gonna get the shaft, and they picked one in each division – us and Misery. It’s up to us to beat the teams like Moo U and the Rebnecks and maybe surprise somebody like Georgia. I have a suspicion our talent is a lot better than it’s looked the last two years because Morris & Co. were so inept.
Let’s just play the game(s), not the blame games now. Too late for that.
There could be some surprises in store across the league, whether The Hogs are involved or not is yet to be seen.
Regardless of how fair or unfair the schedule is perceived or how large the score deficit, my evaluation of progress will be: Did we play hard and compete for 60 minutes and did the team play with composure and intelligence? If we accomplish this, I will see progress. After the past two seasons I think incremental progress is enough for me.
You cannot possibly have had a worse opponent to open up with than Georgia with all their talent coming back on defense. Just ridiculous for them to do it and I know exactly why they did it, the ties Pittman has with both schools, ticks me off to even think about it!!I just hope and pray one day we can become relevant again because this is killing me for us to be the laughingstock of the league.
28-0 instead of 38-0 before the half is more likely because Georgia can still score when all they do is hand off. The second half will be even–our first team against their second team and reserves.
1-1-3. That was Georgia’s defensive national standing last year…Rushing Defense, Scoring Defense, and Total Defense. And, they return most of them.
Hell we are slightly 2.5 hours from kickoff, and folks are already gloom & doom. I love this schedule! It’s 10 of the best teams in the country. We will win some, and we will lose some…so what?! The Hogs are playing again folks! Just be happy & positive. We have the best schedule in the country in my opinion!
Let’s see what happens this season, and regardless just hope our team plays like some mean ass hogs!!!
No one expects anything out of this Razorback team
We can only go up from where we were
The rebuild begins today and we start the slow road back to respectability. Expect to see more fight in this team today than we have seen since 2015. We should lose by 3 or 4 touchdowns and that very well may happen, but expecting a hard fought game and positives to point towards after the game
