Any chance they might try to schedule another mid-week opponent before the end of the season, maybe in May when mid-week games tend to fall off? I’m sure that’s not easy, but I can remember them doing that before. I just hate to lose a mid-week game that can give some of the young players a chance to play that wouldn’t get to on the weekend. I know that May gets into finals and such, though.
I seem to remember that we were already two games under the 56-game limit to start the season.
That was last year. We had the full 56 scheduled this time; this cancellation drops us to 55.
However, to get there we have midweek games most of the rest of the way. UALR next week, UCA the following week, UAPB the week after that, ASU the week after that, UCA in NLR, and Misery State. The only weeks we don’t have midweeks are the weeks of May 9 and May 16. And the weekend series after May 16 is a roadie at Alabama starting on Thursday, making a midweek particularly difficult.
Van Horn said they tried to find someone to play at home midweek this week, but it was too tough on such late notice. He said they will keep open the possibility of making up this game somewhere down the line, possibly with a midweek doubleheader against a team that is already on the schedule.
