Game 1 updates

The game has been humming along pretty good until the top of the fourth. Rhode Island recorded three straight hits off Arkansas starter Blaine Knight to start the inning and now leads 3-1. The Rams would have had another run if not for an interference call at second base.

The Razorbacks took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Dominic Fletcher hit a two-out home run to right field off URI starter Tyler Wilson. The wind is blowing out a little to right today.

The wheels fell off for URI’s ace in the bottom of the fourth. Everything he threw was high, including a pitch with the bases loaded to score Luke Bonfield. The bases still are loaded with one out in the inning and the game is tied 2-2.

The Razorbacks have only two hits, but lead because of erratic pitching by the Rams. Rhode Island has walked eight batters.

Arkansas took a 3-2 lead after Jordan McFarland and Jaxon Williams walked to leadoff the inning. McFarland eventually reached third and scored on a wild pitch by reliever Vitaly Jangols. Jake Arledge followed with an RBI single to score Hunter Wilson, who was pinch-running for Williams.

Luke Bonfield’s solo home run off Nick Robinson in the bottom of the seventh inning extended the Razorbacks’ lead to 5-2. Arkansas has only four hits. Three of those were RBI hits, including two solo home runs.

Barrett Loseke had a great performance in a scoreless 4 2/3-inning relief appearance. Loseke allowed three hits, didn’t walk any batters and struck out three. Loseke now is 2-0 this season.
